I dug up some old stuff today. All with a dog theme.
I did these brush pictures a few years back. I did 3 sketchbooks full of them. Funny how sometimes a character will grab you and you can't stop drawing it. I drew them straight down with a brush, you can tell by the dodgy bits
This one's really old. He seems made up with his motor.
This last one is not so old. Last year I think. Minds going. Its designed by my pal Vin James. I did the flashing up. -

I got home from playing footy last night and found some nutter had sent me some hate mail. Its my first.
About 4 years ago I directed a music promo. This chap didn't like it.
YOU FREAKING COPIED OFF OF THE GORILLAZ YOU STUPID DUCHBAGS!!!! EWWWW. THE "........" SUCK PENIS. GORILLAZ ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN "..........". YOU'RE MUSIC MAKES MY EARS BLEED A LOT. I HATE YOU ALLLLL. YOU CAN'T COPY THE GORILLAZ. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, BUT YOU MANAGED TO DO IT, YOU RETARDED LUNATICS.
Charming.
And no it wasnt anything like the Gorillaz.
Anyway....works going well. The new show looks like its on. So I may be taking a trip out to India to get things set up there. Should be fun.
The images this time are done by me and my youngest lad Edward. He's 7 and likes robots. And football.
The other ones a crappy head...I'll post something funny next time. -

Back again. I've had a bit of time off to re-charge. Heres an old picture anyway. It was done in the early stages of development for the Albie series for Cosgrove Hall. They went with the authors original drawings in the end. Also a more recent drawing trying to find a style for the NRSI roadsafety campaign.
Right now I'm onto my next board for Cartoon Saloon and the new shows I've been developing are getting interesting. Fingers crossed for good news. Also I'm going to the Big Chip Awards on Wednesday. Many thanks to my chums at Stardotstar for getting me out the house again. We won 3 awards last year, best animation was one of them. I'll try and post some amusing pictures of me in a tux. -

Heres a little Photoshop action for you.
http://www.savefile.com/files/4225706
Its called "ready to paint"...and that's what it does. Stick it in your Photoshop actions folder and you should be good to go. I have it assigned to F2.
Scan in your drawing, mess with your levels a bit, then hit F2.
Give me a shout if you cant get it to work.
I cant post without a picture so heres a Cowgirl. -

Heres a few more brush things and my first go at painter. I did it ages ago and I've not had cause to use the program since. Its great though if a little slow on my machine. Most things are a little slow on my machine.
Also I dug up a colour model from the pilot I did in Flash. Hopefully someone will give us money to make the series. -

The shorts I've been doing with my pal Chris Wayles are all done. Thanks for the cool animation Chris. I'm told they are going to be shown on the big outdoor screen at the triangle central Manchester at some point. I'll try and get some pictures if it happens. Heres a grab from it. A bus in the rain.
Also a couple of Sax players. Doodled while sitting through another long After Effects render. Also a little chap who I thought was fun. I'm having a couple of days off then I'm doing a board for the lovely people at Cartoon Saloon. -

By the 17th of this month, all the animation for the latest project has to be done. Its mad! So, not much time to dig out the character stuff I said I'd post. Heres a couple of sketchbook pictures instead. Its odd but I only seem to like the drawings that dont look like I did them. Does that make sense? -

At last a new post. I did mean to do this more often, anyway, heres a design for an 8 minute thing I'm directing and two from a half hour film project. They're coloured in Photoshop as usual. The creepy one is Flash, Photoshop and After Effects.
Dang! I wish my blog was as cool as http://um-daddy.blogspot.com/ or http://gruesomestein.blogspot.com/. -

Heres a few images from the early stages of a short. I thought it would be nice to get them out as the films not going to be made. Not like this anyway. All the backgrounds started life as ink drawings. I used a dish cloth to draw with. I had my big art hat on that day. Then painted up in Photoshop. All the test animation was done in Flash. Then After Effects.
